Join Our Board

The American Association of Somatic Sexology is entering an exciting phase of growth, and we are inviting visionary leaders to help guide our next chapter as members of our Board of Directors. As a community-centered, membership-based organization, our board plays a vital role in stewarding a future where somatic practice and sexological research are integrated to advance sexual health and well-being for all.

Our work is grounded in embodiment, liberation, and pleasure-centered approaches to sexual wellness. We are building a home for practitioners, researchers, educators, and community leaders who understand that the body is central to healing, justice, and joy. As a board member, you will help shape an organization that centers marginalized voices, honors cultural context, and insists on trauma-informed, consent-based, and queer- and trans-affirming practice.

What our board does:

  • Provides strategic direction and governance for the organization.

  • Upholds our mission, values, and ethical commitments in all programs and partnerships.

  • Supports sustainable growth through policy-making, fundraising, and relationship-building.

  • Champions somatic sexology in professional, academic, and community spaces.

This is a working board: we are looking for people who are excited to roll up their sleeves, bring their skills, and co-create structures that will sustain this organization for years to come.

We welcome applications from people with diverse lived experiences, identities, locations, and professional backgrounds. You do not need to fit a traditional “board” mold to be a strong candidate.

We are especially interested in individuals who bring experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Somatic sexology, sex therapy, coaching, education, or related embodied practices

  • Research, academic leadership, or curriculum development

  • Nonprofit governance, finance, or legal/compliance

  • Fundraising, philanthropy, or development strategy

  • Communications, marketing, or community-building

  • Organization-building in global majority, decolonial, disability justice, or LGBTQIA+ contexts

If you have held leadership in grassroots, community-based, or movement spaces—even without formal titles—we want to hear from you.

How to express interest

If you feel called to help shape the future of somatic sexology, we would love to hear from you.

Please complete the interest form on this page (or use the contact form on our site) and share:

  • A brief introduction to who you are and the communities you serve

  • Your relationship to somatic sexology and/or adjacent fields

  • Any relevant leadership, governance, or organizing experience

  • What draws you to serve on this board at this moment

We review expressions of interest on a rolling basis and will follow up with next steps, which may include an informational conversation and an invitation to a group orientation.
